Golf after school. Learn to Play Golf. Have fun.
Our program exposes children, within their school, to the great game of golf. They will then graduate to our Thompson Golf Academy Program.
Proven three level program for junior golfers
Introduction month to golf. Learning about the different clubs, how to hold them, the width of stance for each club, the ball position required for each club, aim and alignment.
The juniors will learn about safety and where to stand when someone is hitting. We use specialized equipment from SNAG Golf for the training at after school program. It is made from plastic and the kids hit tennis balls which makes it ideal for school program, be it in the gym or outside on the playground.
The test will be on the last lesson of the month and will cover the aspects mentioned above. Upon completion of this level the junior will get a certificate saying they have passed level 1.
This level gets more into the attainment of the junior. They now have a knowledge of the starting or address position from which to swing from level 1. From here we can develop their swings. The skill testing at the end of the month will measure their ability to strike a ball with a degree of accuracy (clubface control) and to get the ball airborne and land in specific areas (clubhead control). Along with these skills, to progress, the junior gets to attend one of our four weekly junior beginner golf classes at Timberline Golf Course. We offer these on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4-5; Saturdays 10-11; and Sundays 2-3 and want to expose the juniors to the golf course at this time.
Upon completion of this level the junior will get a certificate saying they have passed level 2.
This is still taught at the school with the juniors honing their skills using the Snag equipment. At this level the junior continues to attend one of our four weekly junior beginner golf classes at Timberline Golf Course. We offer these on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4-5; Saturdays 10-11; and Sundays 2-3 and want to expose the juniors to the golf course at this time. To pass level 3 the junior must pass putting, chipping and full swing skill tests. Again signed certificate to show they have passed level 3.
They have now graduated the after school program. We hope they would start attend TPI lessons on a regular basis. They can still attend after school lessons but we have no more levels for them to attain.
